Ventura College’s Veterinary Technology program offers an Associate of Science degree designed to prepare students for successful careers in the animal healthcare industry. The program provides a comprehensive education, integrating hands-on learning with a curriculum that meets all American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) standards. A key advantage is the AVMA-CVTEA accreditation, assuring a rigorous program that prepares graduates to be practice-ready. Students gain expertise in veterinary laboratory procedures, surgical and anesthesia assisting, digital imaging, dental procedures, medical nursing, and emergency care. A unique feature is the opportunity to earn a Certificate of Achievement in Veterinary Assistant after the first year, allowing students to enter the workforce while completing their associate’s degree. Graduates are well-prepared to sit for national and state board exams to become Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs), opening doors to a wide range of career opportunities within veterinary hospitals, research facilities, animal shelters, and beyond.
