The Veterinary Technology AS degree program at Hillsborough Community College (HCC) provides comprehensive, hands-on training for aspiring veterinary technicians. Accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the program is designed to be completed in two years or five consecutive terms. Students gain practical experience through laboratory work and required hours in a veterinary-related setting, preparing them for a variety of career opportunities. The curriculum encompasses essential veterinary skills, including animal anatomy and physiology, clinical practice, pharmacology, and animal nursing for both small and large animals. Furthermore, HCC has an articulation agreement with St. Petersburg College (SPC), allowing graduates to seamlessly continue their education toward a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology. Graduates will be prepared to pursue careers in diverse areas such as private practice, animal shelters, research facilities, and wildlife centers. This program equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in this rapidly growing field and make a significant contribution to animal health and well-being.
