College of Southern Idaho Twin Falls, Idaho

The Veterinary Technology program at the College of Southern Idaho is designed to provide students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to excel as veterinary technicians. This program typically lasts two years, leading to an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree. Students gain a solid foundation in animal anatomy and physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, surgical preparation and assistance, radiography, anesthesia, and clinical laboratory techniques. A key component of the program is the extensive hands-on training provided through clinical rotations. These rotations allow students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings under the supervision of experienced veterinarians and certified veterinary technicians. Graduates are prepared to assist veterinarians in a wide range of procedures, from routine check-ups and vaccinations to complex surgeries and diagnostic tests. Upon graduation and successful completion of the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE), graduates can become credentialed veterinary technicians (CVTs) and pursue rewarding careers in veterinary clinics, animal hospitals, research institutions, zoos, and other animal-related industries. The program likely aims to meet AVMA accreditation standards, ensuring quality educational experiences.
