Northeast Iowa Community College’s Veterinary Technician program offers a comprehensive education for aspiring vet techs with a passion for both companion and large animals. This two-year AVMA CVTEA-accredited program provides extensive hands-on experience utilizing state-of-the-art facilities, including a new small animal surgical suite and digital radiology equipment for both small and large animals. Students gain practical skills through direct interaction with Iowa’s Dairy Center and the Beef Science Education Center, as well as access to the Iowa State University Swine Medical Education Center, private equine facilities, and local farms. The program emphasizes both companion animal medicine and large animal medicine, ensuring graduates are proficient in all hands-on tasks required by the AVMA. This program equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in a thriving, in-demand veterinary technology career, prepared to meet the diverse needs of animal healthcare.
