The Veterinary Technology program at College of Southern Nevada (CSN) is designed to prepare students for rewarding careers as veterinary technicians. This comprehensive program typically spans two years, culminating in an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree. Students will delve into a wide range of subjects, including animal anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, surgical assisting, radiology, and clinical pathology. A strong emphasis is placed on hands-on training, ensuring students gain practical skills in animal handling, nursing care, laboratory procedures, and diagnostic techniques. The curriculum is often designed to reflect the diverse needs of the veterinary field, covering aspects of small animal, large animal, and potentially exotic animal medicine. Students will gain valuable experience through clinical rotations at local veterinary hospitals and clinics, allowing them to work alongside experienced veterinary professionals. Upon graduation, students will be eligible to sit for the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE), paving the way for professional licensure or certification and a fulfilling career as a veterinary technician in diverse settings, such as private practices, animal shelters, and research facilities.
