The Veterinary Technology program at SUNY Ulster is a comprehensive 64-credit Associate of Applied Science degree designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel as veterinary technicians. The program blends classroom instruction with hands-on experience, covering essential topics such as animal anatomy and physiology, radiology, anesthesia, pharmacology, and behavioral medicine. Unique to this program, students gain practical experience through a 6-day Farm Camp at SUNY Delhi, focusing on large animal handling, and a 2-day Research Animal Technology (RAT) Camp. The curriculum emphasizes the development of strong technical, computer, communication, and human relations skills needed to effectively assist veterinarians in a variety of settings, including small and large animal practices, as well as research facilities. Accredited by the AVMA, graduates are well-prepared to take the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) and meet the growing demand for skilled veterinary technicians in the region.
