The Veterinary Technology program at Harcum College provides students with the comprehensive knowledge and practical skills necessary to excel as veterinary technicians. This program, typically a two-year Associate of Science degree, equips graduates to assist veterinarians in a wide range of medical and surgical procedures. Students learn essential skills in animal nursing, surgical assisting, radiography, dentistry, clinical laboratory procedures, and pharmacology. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on training, allowing students to gain practical experience in a simulated veterinary practice environment and through clinical rotations at affiliated veterinary hospitals and animal shelters. A key goal of the program is to prepare students to become competent, ethical, and compassionate members of the veterinary healthcare team. Graduates are eligible to sit for the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE), paving the way for licensure and a rewarding career as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT). Upon successful completion of the program, graduates can find employment in diverse settings such as general practice veterinary clinics, specialty hospitals, research institutions, and animal welfare organizations.
