The Veterinary Technology program at BridgeValley Community & Technical College is designed to prepare students for rewarding careers as vital members of the veterinary healthcare team. This program, typically completed in two years, provides students with a strong foundation in animal science, veterinary medical procedures, and client communication. Students can expect to learn about animal anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, surgical assisting, radiology, and clinical laboratory procedures. A significant portion of the curriculum focuses on hands-on training in a simulated veterinary setting, allowing students to develop essential skills in patient care, medication administration, and diagnostic testing. Clinical externships at local veterinary facilities further enhance their practical experience. Graduates of the program are generally eligible to sit for the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) and, upon passing, can pursue careers as credentialed Veterinary Technicians in diverse settings such as veterinary clinics, animal hospitals, research facilities, and animal shelters. The program aims to produce competent and compassionate veterinary professionals ready to contribute to the well-being of animals.
