The Veterinary Technician program at Marian University-Ancilla is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive as valuable members of a veterinary healthcare team. Typically completed in two years, the program offers a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on laboratory experiences, providing a comprehensive understanding of animal anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, surgical assisting, radiology, and clinical laboratory procedures. Students can expect to learn how to assist veterinarians in examinations, administer medications, perform diagnostic tests, and provide compassionate care for animals in a variety of settings. A key component of the program is the clinical experience, which provides real-world training in veterinary clinics or similar facilities. Graduates will be prepared to pursue careers as veterinary technicians in private practices, emergency animal hospitals, specialty clinics, research facilities, or animal shelters. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates should be well-prepared to take the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) and obtain credentialing as a veterinary technician. An emphasis on animal welfare and ethical practice is likely integrated throughout the curriculum.
