Alamance Community College’s Veterinary Medical Technology program offers a comprehensive pathway to a rewarding career caring for animals. Designed for students with an aptitude for science, math, and strong communication skills, the program equips graduates with the knowledge, critical thinking abilities, and technical expertise needed to excel as integral members of veterinary healthcare teams. The curriculum uses a concept-based approach that fosters meaningful connections in learning. Students gain hands-on experience through labs, simulations, and clinical placements, ensuring they develop essential skills for providing professional and compassionate animal care. The program emphasizes critical thinking and clinical decision-making, preparing students for real-world challenges. Upon completion, graduates are eligible to sit for the VTNE and NCVTSE to become licensed Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) in North Carolina. Furthermore, the program establishes a path to further education, particularly through a partnership with Appalachian State University’s online Veterinary Technology Bachelor’s program.
