The Veterinary Technician program at Moore Norman Technology Center provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel as vital members of a veterinary healthcare team. This comprehensive program typically takes around two years to complete and includes a blend of classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory exercises, and real-world clinical experiences. Students learn essential skills in animal handling, nursing care, surgical assisting, radiography, anesthesia monitoring, laboratory diagnostics, and client communication. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including animal anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, disease prevention, and emergency medicine. A significant portion of the program involves clinical rotations in veterinary clinics and other animal-related facilities, allowing students to apply their knowledge and gain practical experience under the supervision of licensed veterinarians and veterinary technicians. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to sit for the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) and, upon passing, can become Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs). RVTs are highly sought after in various settings, including private veterinary practices, specialty hospitals, animal shelters, research facilities, and zoos.
